Travelling in Cebu might be one of the coolest things you have ever done in your life. The sceneries, the people, the culture and the food! Yes, the food! —All of which you can encounter in this cozy place down the south side area of the Philippines. And as overrated as it gets, music has always been part of the Queen City’s lifestyle. If you are a mere traveler who wants to experience Cebu or a resident living in one of the Ayala properties around the metro but wanted to bring along some visiting friends on a food and drinking trip, here is a list of some awesome chill-out places here in Cebu that you sure do not want to miss.
The Outpost Bar
Distinctively one of the famous resto-bars in Cebu, The Outpost has been under a few management changes for quite a while until recently. Been up for almost a decade, this resto-bar has been a hub for music lovers, enthusiasts and musicians themselves, making it a home of various people for the love of music. A lot of home-grown bands who are setting foot at this place are now becoming one of the country’s leading bands, such as Franco and Urbandub, to name a few.

Located at Veteran’s Drive Lahug, every day within the week at The Outpost, there are a lot of new reasons to enjoy, unwind, and relax and dine-in with friends. They are also offering scrumptious meals and pika-pika for your tummies. If you are a traveller and wanted to enjoy pure good music, you can always head out here and see what Cebuano talents can offer your ears. Opens everyday at 5pm to 2am, you might just want to be back for certain.
One of the best pizzas in town, Handuraw Pizza has been serving for a decade at their main branch in Gorordo Avenue. With over 15 thin crust pizzas to choose from, Handuraw Pizza has been a place for local events too, where people can dine and enjoy a chill ambience and a taste of local music serenading them. This is a typical chill out place under a tropical location that is the Queen City of the South. KOA gives you a vibe like you are in the beach, with an ambiance of reggae and rock, as these two music genres are closest to the heart of the Cebuanos. This also happens to be a transient place where backpackers and our traveller friends can experience a nice abode to stay and at the same time have fun chilling it out new friends over astounding music.
One of the best places to chill-out in Cebu; a relatively new place with a hipster-ish feel, The Chillage has been known to be a very chill spot to hang out with friends. Capping it with awesome beer and conversations, The Chillage also happens to be one of the honest-to-goodness clothing stores in town. Situated at the Adnama Building near Cebu Doctor’s University, The Chillage also serves coffee for some of your who are caffeine fanatics. The Tree Lounge is a hip-place to hangout especially to our foreigner friends who want to have a groovier yet laidback kind-of-feel experience. More often than not, there are bands playing on almost every night and salsa dancing! It also has good food, which is one of their best assets to date.
Located at one of the most alive areas in Cebu City, Jazz Joint formerly know as Kalye 80s Bar, is another place to hangout with your friends over acoustic music and live performances. You can also jam with the sessionistas or enjoy the DJ playing music. They also serve good food so it’s a place you can always come back to.
An elegant restaurant with an outdoor acoustic lounge that showcases local Cebuano talents, Ilaputi is one of the very best places to be especially if you are looking for a more sophisticated place to hangout to. One of their best sellers is their Ilaputi Pasta which is a must try!
